There's just one word that describes this guitar: Beautiful! The Wechter Pathmaker is an electric-acoustic guitar designed by former Gibson star designer Abe Wechter and built in Korea. The double cutaway combined with a wide body and a narrow waist, gives it a distinctive and really nice look, sure to be noticed among the crowd of "western guitar" and "folk guitar" clones. Most cutaway acoustic guitars suffers from a reduced tone, but Wechter seems to have managed to avoid this, and the Pathmaker has a round and full acoustic sound very well suited for fingerpicking. It might lack a bit cutting edge treble to be a strummer's guitar, but when it comes to acoustic guitars there's always a tradeoff between solo and rhythm sound, and Wechter Pathmaker still works fairly well in both roles. The Wechter Pathmaker comes with various pickup system. Musician's Friend sells it with a luxusious three way L. R. Baggs Mirtone pickup/preamp system, while Music123 have chosen to focus on a similar Artec system. It also comes with a more basic Fishman transducer system and there are rumours about a model with a B-band fitted. - Available from: Music123
